Brake, transmission, exhaust and glass work is often done by specialty shops that see the same job dozens of times a week. Brake shops replace pads and rotors the same day and usually inspect for free; transmission shops rebuild or replace automatics and clutches, a multi-day job that deserves a second quote; muffler and exhaust shops weld custom pipes and replace catalytic converters, which in many states must meet emissions rules. Alignment and suspension shops fix pulling, uneven tire wear and worn shocks, and radiator shops handle overheating and cooling-system leaks. Auto glass shops replace windshields, often at your home or office, and recalibrate the driver-assistance cameras mounted behind the glass. Window tinting and car audio shops round out the group.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I’ve trusted Ace Muffler with the exhaust work on four different vehicles over the years, and they’ve also made several changes to my current truck. Every experience has been outstanding. The quality of their workmanship is phenomenal, and they always deliver exactly what I’m looking for. As a fellow San Diego small business owner, I highly recommend Ace Muffler to anyone looking for honest, high-quality exhaust work. Great people, excellent service, and results that keep me coming back.

Carlos is great to work with and delivered a great product faster than he promised. He also helped us diagnose other problems and recommended a great mechanic right up the street. He keeps a lot of stock on hand so it's likely he can help you day of if you call ahead of time. Like other folks have said, he doesn't have set hours but either will or won't be open 🤷‍♂️ just call Carlos! A service not listed, but he does muffler installs too (if you bought a custom job by somebody else with a fart can on it)

I called the shop on a Sunday morning , supposedly wasn’t opened for work but Carlos had happened to be there in the shop and said he would gladly help me put on my new catback exhaust system and new catalytic converter. It took an hour solo by himself but I watched him do it throughout. If I were to put it on myself, I would have ran into an issue with the piping and wasted time, which he fixed by cutting the exhaust and rewelding it to match screws. I am overall very satisfied with my experience here and happy the way the exhaust sounded coming out. Really cool guy. Thank you Carlos 👍 Definitely recommend

I pulled up & Carlos saved me from my rattling muffler. He installed a new magnaflow muffler in an hour while I hung out in the movie theater and had a drink. $400 out the door, no ordering or hassle, super happy to have my Miata humming along happily again. Would highly recommend Ace Muffler Shop.

Solid, solid business. I talked to Carlos over the phone and discussed on what I should have done to the Challenger. I told Carlos it was a 2010 3.5L V6 Challenger, and immediately already knew what to do as he had owned one in the past. Personally I don't know too much about exhaust systems, but from what I have seen from his work, he had recommended wider diameter cats and pipes, FlowMaster Streetflows splitting into a dual exhaust system, and some new tips. He gave me a really reasonably quote, 750 for the whole thing flat, no taxes. Carlos was a kind guy, was very welcoming. He had an accommodating waiting room with a TV and leather seating, which was very comfortable. Also accommodating drinks and a Ryobi fan by my side. It was 95 degrees when I got there. If you ever need exhaust work, hit Carlos up at Ace Muffler Shop. He'll give you the best quote and prices in the SD area. 5/5.
